Cute cafe to visit if you're tired of going to the same ol chains such as Starbucks or Dunkin! The coffees are a bit more expensive, but it's a great place to come if you're going to read or study. It was eerily quiet when we walked in on a Saturday afternoon. They don't play any music so if there are no patrons, then the place is dead quiet! I ordered an italian soda (strawberry syrup (or you can substitute with raspberry syrup), Sprite (or you can have it with San Pellegrino). It was delicious and refreshing on a hot summer day!
Food: 5 Service: 5 Drinks: 5 Cleanliness: 3.5 If you want to get away from the bustlin' streets of Chicago, Eva's Cafe is your place to be. Don't expect a typical crowded coffee shop. Eva's cafe offers a vibe straight from the streets of Europe. Whether you're coming to catch up with friends, read a book, or have a study sesh, they offer it all. Now I would say there isn't much seating for big study seshs but lots of small individual tables up front. You'll find vintage furniture scattered around, which may be way worn out, but hey it's just a cafe. They offer breakfast and lunch sandwiches along with locally baked goods! All super good. Free Wi-Fi! Street parking for free before 6pm or pay to park.
Great atmosphere for a cafe. Intelligentsia coffee served. Food/specialty drink menu's available. Hot Chocolate: 2 (very Swiss-mix-like). It was described as a "rich hot chocolate" but it tasted like American chocolate diluted with milk. It should be called 'Chocolate Milk.' Lattes: 4 Earl Grey (Benjamin teas {not the best line}): 3 Service: 5! Quality isn't fully there, but the ambiance and service really make this place so cozy and great!
Don't get me wrong, Starbucks has its place like stops along the thruway and airports, if you want a great cup of joe and awesome breakfast food then this is the place to go. The building is so unique and cool inside. Small tables up front, large community tables in the back. The barista was super friendly and helpful when ordering. The coffee and tea was hot and flavorful. Ordered some sweets and a croissant breakfast sandwich. This was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The croissant was buttery and flaky. Skip the chain coffee shops and go here!
Have been there a number of times now and have always enjoyed the experience. Their hot chocolate (which is what I usually get) is delicious and comes with a generous portion. Haven't had their sandwiches so can't comment. The vibe is also great - quiet and friendly. Update - their pesto sandwich is also really good.
Obsessed with this little hole in the wall coffee shop a few blocks down my apartment!! Tall tables with amble seating for a big study group or family gathering for some coffee or quick breakfast. The staff was so friendly and even gave me free coffee for my refill! Definitely coming back once my semester starts to study :)
Such a cozy cafe with beautiful decor. Really wonderful for working and/or relaxing. I adore the freshly made breakfast sandwiches, which I think are freakishly cheap for what you get--they are made by Eva herself, who is very friendly! Coffee-wise, I'm mostly an iced mocha person, and I wasn't a huge fan of theirs. It was more on the sugary side than chocolatey side.
Typically I don't commence my review until I get to a place that I can be alone, digest all the information and observations on an establishment I've visited, and grab my i-pad and begin the writing process. However, I don't want to miss every little detail I see at Eva's, so I'm sitting at a table near the kitchen, people-watching, while enjoying my cold brew and pesto sandwich. "Eva's Cafe" is probably one of the most homey coffee shops in the city, with a real fireplace, a lamp or candle at each table, and a kitchen where you can see the food in the making. I love brick houses and felt very comfortable chilling here. Playing Pokemon Go drains my phone battery like nobody's business. Fortunately, there were many outlets available to juice up my device. The young lady at the front register was super down-to-earth and friendly. I totally would render my five (5) stars gladly to this place, but they were out of tomatoes for the day. It was slightly disappointing, yet was nothing detrimental to the taste of my pesto sandwich; it was still delightful. Location wise, Eva's is steps away from the CTA Sedgwick Brown Line station, which is fairly close to the downtown/loop area. I don't know about you guys, but I always feel "rushed" or "distracted" at a coffeeshop downtown due to the limited space and the volume of traffic coming in and out. I, nevertheless believe I've found a perfect spot to break away, to refuel, and to rejuvenate. Come to Eva's, take five, or stay for an extended period of time as you wish.
